Mayor pro-tem set to take over in Chadbourn |

CHADBOURN, NC (WECT) - We know who's going to become the new mayor in Chadbourn.

Current mayor Kenneth Waddell will be leaving for Raleigh, after beating Gaston Pridgen to win the District 46 house seat in last week's elections.

Since Fax Rector is mayor pro-tem, he will take over as mayor sometime before Waddell gets sworn into the house seat.

Rector says the board will then have to find another council member .

He tell us, in the past they have appointed whoever had the highest vote, but didn't win election.

If that happens, Rector says, Donald Ray Bass would be appointed.
