Bolton gets federal grant to pay officer's salary | 911
BOLTON, NC (WECT) - The town of Bolton is among more than 200 communities to receive a grant to fund its local police department.
The U.S. Department of Justice made the announcement this week. A total of 221 grants were awarded worth $111 million.
Bolton will receive $163,869 to pay for one officer position for three years. The "Cops Hiring Program" grants pay for 75% of entry-level salaries and benefits.
