WHITEVILLE, NC (WECT) – Within the past two weeks, nearly 10 businesses have been broken into in Whiteville, according to the Whiteville Police Department.
Thieves only got away with $30 during a break-in at the 701 Drive In and Restaurant earlier this month, but the owners said it cost them more than $1,000 to repair damages caused by the break in.
Investigators said 701 isn’t the only place that’s been a target for crooks. The laundromat across the street from 701 was recently burglarized, along with What A Burger, which is in downtown Whiteville.
Whiteville Police officers are stepping up patrols and said they believe multiple people are helping commit these crimes.
