Three facing drug charges after joint synthetic narcotics investigation

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Three men are facing drug charges following a joint investigation involving synthetic narcotics between the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office and the Whiteville Police Department.

According to a press release from authorities, two businesses, including Golden Tobacco in Columbus Corner’s shopping center and Zack’s Discount Tobacco in the Whiteville Mini-Mall, were served search warrants Wednesday.

The warrants came following complaints from citizens, which sparked a three-month investigation into the businesses for the past three months. The investigations resulted in undercover buys at both businesses.

As the warrants were served, officials arrested 18-year-old Samuel Jenrette, a customer, who was arrested after authorities found marijuana and a loaded handgun on him. He was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying a concealed weapon.

Authorities also arrested Mohamed Salen Ali Mozib of Zack’s Discount Tobacco and Maeen Mohammed Askar Althahabe of Golden Tobacco.

Mozib was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver, sell and deliver, and two counts of maintaining a dwelling for selling a controlled substance.

Althahabe was charged with sell and deliver and maintaining a dwelling for selling a controlled substance.
