WHITEVILLE, NC (WECT) - The City of Whiteville will discuss spending up to $3,000 to contribute towards the Interstate Railroad Committee Study at their Tuesday meeting.
Commissioners in Columbus County recently indicated they would contribute up to $30,000 for estimated $100,000 study.
The recently formed IRC will also look to collect money from Horry and Marion county to fund the study.
It's been more than a year since a train has traveled through the county, due to the rail system not meeting government regulations.
