COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Wednesday, members of the Columbus County Baptist Association stuffed a bus with more than $21,000 of toys, they bought at the Walmart in Whiteville.
Money for the toys was raised by the 51 churches that make up the baptist association, sheriff's office, and Concerned Bikers of Columbus County.
Parents of more than 400 kids will get to buy the toys 10 cents on the dollar.
Organizers say, those families are referred by DSS workers and school counselors.
"It's just an awesome response to what we know Jesus Christ has done in our lives and the lives of our churches. We just want to see his love projected to these families. Through what we're able to do. To share with them the hope they can have through Christmas and knowing Jesus Christ. It's a great ministry," said Pastor Kenneth Baker, with Union Valley Baptist Church.
