New license plate agency in Whiteville | Community Spirit

WHITEVILLE, NC (WECT) - Owners of a new license plate agency were busy putting the finishing touches on it Monday before it opens Tuesday morning.

The agency is inside Merrit’s Sporting Goods store in Downtown Whiteville. For almost a year, some people in Columbus County have had to drive an hour to Elizabethtown if they wanted to renew their registration or license plate.

The owners of the agency said they’ve been away for three weeks training for the license plate agency. The agency will have four employees. Besides providing a convenience for residents, they hope the agency will bring more people to downtown Whiteville.
