COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Organizers hope residents will go ‘nuts’ this weekend with the 20th annual NC Harvest Pecan Festival in Whiteville.
Opening events kicked off Thursday with a wine and cheese reception. The fun continued Friday with the Celebrity Queen’s Luncheon and Homes of Whiteville Tour.
Things will really get going Friday night with the Pecan Party at Vineland Emporium, 6-10 p.m.
The festival mascot, Nut E. Squirrel will be on hand throughout the event hosting static displays and events during the weekend.
Vendors will offer a variety of foods like pies, cookies, and ice cream, using pecans as their main ingredients.
According to the festival’s website, there will be “pecans, pecans, pecans galore! Shelled and unshelled, by the handful or by the pound!”
