More than 900 traffic, criminal violations made in Columbus Co. | Crime

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A total of 926 traffic and criminal violations were made recently in Columbus County.

A news release from an NC Department of Transportation spokesperson revealed that, across the state, 3,147 motorists were cited for driving while impaired during a holiday “Booze It & Lose It” campaign that ran from Dec. 7 to Jan. 2.

Additionally, 110,692 traffic and criminal citations, 6,381 safety belt and 1,134 child passenger safety violations, 364 speeding violations and 3,543 drug charges were issued statewide.

In Columbus County, where there were a total of 58 checkpoints, the following charges and/or citations were written:

• 5 under 21 DWI charges
• 27 21 and over DWI charges
• 100 safety belt violations
• 31 child passenger safety violations
• 9 drug violations
• 8 fugitives arrested
• 10 felony arrests
• 19 other criminal violations
• 262 speeding violations
• 109 driving with a revoked license
• 2 GDL
• 309 other traffic violations
• 24 uninsured motorists
• 11 reckless driving
