COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A Columbus County man was found guilty of armed robbery on Wednesday, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Jonathan Peppers was sentenced to 60-81 months in the Department of Corrections after being convicted of robbery with a dangerous weapon and second degree kidnapping.
The conviction is a result of an incident that occurred on March 26, 2010 at Pigford’s Restaurant. Albert Brown, an employee who was cleaning the restaurant at 10:30 p.m., was reportedly approached by Peppers, James Patrick McCormick, and a juvenile. The DA’s press release says Peppers held a gun to Brown while the three individuals took all the cash he had on him.
They tied Brown’s hands and put him in the restaurant’s freezer before fleeing from the scene.
