COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Tuesday, classes at Southeastern Community College in Whiteville were cancelled so that students could engage with cutting edge technology as part of the technology fair on campus.
There were nearly 20 exhibits at the event, and students got to see solar panels pump water as an irrigation system and electric motorcycles. They also learned how to pop popcorn by using a solar panel.
Instructors say each year, they hold a fair that's technology-oriented.
Professors at Southeastern say that more students are choosing majors which lean toward technology, adding that they're even seeing a lot of four-year graduates returning to Southeastern to get a degree in technology.
