COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) - According to officials at Southeastern Community College, in Whiteville, workers with Progress Energy notified them that they had to shut off the power at the college to fix an infrastructure problem near a Progress Energy office Thursday morning.
College officials say they sent emails to faculty and students. The campus has been closed all day and will reopen at 5 p.m.
