Water advisory rescinded for consumers in Lake Waccamaw

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A leaking water main along Lake Shore Drive caused periods of low pressure and water outages for consumers of the Lake Waccamaw Water System on Thursday prompting officials to issue a boil water advisory.

The advisory was rescinded on Friday at 3 p.m., according to a news release from the town manager.

The following locations were impacted:

  • 102 Lake Shore Drive
  • 506 Lake Shore Drive
  • Ash Street
  • Cameron Street
  • Central Avenue
  • Lakeview Drive
  • Dogwood Avenue
  • Nancy Street
  • Dallas Avenue

Bacteria may have been introduced into the water system because of the low pressure. Therefore, the Division of Water Resources advised consumers to boil all water or use bottled water. Any water used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and preparing food should have been vigorously boiled for one minute to kill any disease-causing organisms.
