COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Are you ready for a disaster? Most of us are not. Now is the time to prepare for a disaster. Southeastern Community College offers classes to help people prepare for emergencies associated with hurricanes, tornadoes, ice, and fire.
The goal of this training is to prepare people to offer minor assistance between the event of the disaster and the time that emergency personnel are able to respond. Students will learn to assemble a basic disaster kit and what to expect when a disaster strikes.
To schedule a class for your club, agency, church or group, or for more information, contact Dr. Melody Prevatte at (910) 642-7141, ext. 294 or email mprevatte@sccnc.edu.
