SCC students premiere 'BLACKENED' to the public on Thursday

SCC students premiere 'BLACKENED' to the public on Thursday

WHITEVILLE, NC (WECT) — Southeastern Community College students produced a sci-fi thriller entitled “BLACKENED” and will screen the show to the public on Thursday, April 28 at 3 p.m.

The SCC Broadcasting and Production Technology Program will be showing the premiere in the College Auditorium.

SCC students wrote the 16-page script and produced the show during the fall 2010 semester. Those who did not perform on screen worked as directors, camera operators, audio technicians, set dressers, grips and production assistants.

According to a press release, this semester the students oversaw the post-production phase of the TV show, making numerous rough and fine edits and extensive color corrections. Students also added sound effects, wrote three original music scores, generated advertising for the production and created visual effects.

“I'm very proud of the students. They have poured their hearts into this production and it paid off,” said Chris Vaughn, lead instructor, in a statement. “The skills, techniques and knowledge that they learned over the last year have been put to a rigorous test with this production. The students now have about one year of experience working on a production, which will make them more competitive when entering the job market.”
