COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Luke Little will be the next head football coach at Whiteville High School.
Little was approved by the Whiteville City Schools Board of Education Tuesday evening.
"Luke Little is going to be the next head football coach at Whiteville high school." said Whiteville athletics director David Smith.
Little, who is a former assistant at Whiteville, will leave South Stanly to take over the Wolfpack program, replacing Baxter Morris who was fired after two seasons on the job.
This past season, Little led the Rebel Bulls to a 9-4 overall record and a 5-2 mark in the Yadkin Valley 1-A Conference where South Stanly finished third in the eight-team league. He leaves South Stanly with a 34-31 overall record over five seasons. His teams reached at least the second-round of the playoffs four times.
Little spent one season as an offensive coordinator at West Brunswick. Before his time in Shallotte, Little spent four years coaching with his father, Mark, at Whiteville High School. While at Whiteville, Little helped revive a program that was coming off five consecutive losing seasons and helped lead the Wolfpack to 32 wins in four seasons.
Little previously was on the baseball coaching staff at Whiteville as well.
