Man shot, killed in his Columbus County home | News

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Sheriff Chris Batten said a man from Columbus County was shot in the head and killed in his home Friday evening.

The victim, identified as Keith Douglas Gachette, was 46-years-old. The crime took place in Gachette's home off Palmetto Bay Road near Hallsboro. Deputies received the call around 6:15 p.m.

Keith's wife, Wanda Gachette tells us, she last saw her husband alive Friday morning around six when she left for work. She says, when she returned home around six that evening, she found gun down in their family room.

According to investigators there were no forced entries.

Batten said deputies do not have suspects. Gachette's body was sent to Chapel Hill for an autopsy.

Gachette's funeral is Thursday afternoon at three. It will be at the Brunswick Waccamaw Association Building.
