BOARDMAN, NC (WECT) - Agents with North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement have started submitting paperwork to look into shutting down a Columbus County nightclub where three people were shot last week, according to the Columbus County Sheriff's Office.
According to Captain David Nobles, ALE is reviewing the situation and the Sheriff's Office should know in a few days what the agency's decision will be regarding Balls Night Club's future.
When deputies and ALE officers searched the club, they found alcohol, which the club does not have a permit to sell.
Two men were shot in the head and one woman was shot in the rear at the club last Monday.
Captain Nobles said the nightclub, Balls, has given the sheriff's office a lot of problems over the years. He said there have been shootings and fights there. Officials with Columbus County Dispatch say they have been called to the club 17 times since January 2010.
Nobles said if they decide to close the store down the owners may have to go before a judge or they may allow him to sign a consent agreement.
