COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The future is dim for the Columbus County Department of Social Services.
According to commissioner chairman Amon McKenzie, there will be a public hearing during the last commissioners meeting in January to discuss dissolving the DSS Board.
McKenzie said commissioners will decide after the public hearing what to do about the board.
The chairman said the role of the board has changed and that he's served on the board and never understood its purpose.
Algernon McKenzie, a distant relative to the commissioner chairman, was named the board's director in April 2012.
