COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – No foul play is suspected in the death of a longtime gospel radio host who died in Columbus County earlier this month, according to preliminary autopsy reports.
Bobby Pait died in an early morning house fire on King Road in the beginning of January. Friends said he had worked at WTAB 1370AM since 1985. He had a gospel radio show Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
According to county fire marshal Scott Merritt, Pait was found was discovered in the living area. Merritt said Pait's son was home during the fire, but he escaped.
While the preliminary autopsy reports show no sign of foul play, Sheriff Chris Batten said those results could change when the official autopsy is complete.
According to Merritt, the cause of the fire was ruled undetermined.
