Jenkins Bellamy signs up for re-election in Bolton

BOLTON, NC (WECT) - Geraldine Jenkins Bellamy signed up Tuesday to run for for re-election as a town alderman Tuesday.

Jenkins Bellamy was the lone candidate to sign up for a run for office in Columbus County Tuesday.  On the Bolton town website, Jenkins Bellamy is listed as Mayor Pro-Tem for the town.

It's only the second day to sign up to run for municipal office.

The filing period runs through July 15th.

Columbus County GOP sends 3 names to state Republican party for board of elections

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) — The Columbus County GOP announced in a press release that three names have been sent to the state Republican party to be given to the board of elections. The board is expected to appoint the first eligible candidate.

Here are the names:

  • Doris Strickland
  • Brendan Jones
  • Randy Norris

Ilario Pantano to speak at Columbus County tea party on Monday

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The Columbus County tea party will be held on Monday, April 11 at 5:30 p.m. on the steps of the Columbus County courthouse.

According to the Columbus County Republican Party, Ilario Pantano, the 2010 Republican nominee for the U.S. House of Representatives, is scheduled to speak.

Two board meetings scheduled for tomorrow in Columbus County

WHITEVILLE, NC (WECT) – Two board meetings have been planned for Monday, April 4 in Columbus County.

The County School Board will have a meeting at 6 p.m.

Shortly after at 6:30, the Columbus County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to meet.

Columbus County Republican Party to meet on Monday

Columbus County Republican Party to meet on Monday

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The Columbus County Republican Party will meet on Monday, March 21 at the Columbus County Courthouse.

According to the Tabor-Loris Tribune, the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and delegates for the 7th Congressional District Convention will reportedly be elected.

County officers are also expected to be selected and party rules will be adopted.
