SCC offering MTA exams during special event

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Southeastern Community College is partnering with Microsoft to provide a special opportunity May 1-2 for jobseekers, as well as people who are currently employed, to earn a certification to prove their technology skills.

The College is offering the Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) certification exams for only a $5 sitting fee during the two-day event. MTA is an industry-recognized credential for those pursuing a career path in IT infrastructure, database design, or software development using Microsoft technologies.

New mobile app for Android delivers news faster, better

(RNN) - Getting your news from WECT is about to get easier for Android users.

Our new app makes smarter use of the space on your Android phone and tablet screens to provide more timely updates and easy-to-navigate menus that lead you straight to up-to-the-minute alerts, photos, stories and video.

Now, WECT is now sending text alerts with the final scores straight to your phone.

Commissioners, EMS personnel to learn about AirLink helicopter

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) - New Hanover Regional Medical Center has expanded its AirLink program by adding a second helicopter in Columbus County, and Saturday morning, NHRMC will be hosting an event there for emergency services personnel to watch a helicopter landing exercise, tour the aircraft and meet the AirLink team.

According to a NHRMC spokesperson, AirLink staff will also discuss the features of the aircraft, and Columbus County commissioners are expected to attend the event.
